DAR in Sydney, Australia

The Captain James Cook Chapter, NSDAR, was formed in October 1984 with ten members. We currently have 71 members thanks to the help of our stateside genealogist, Our new members have exciting histories of how their ancestors fought in the American Revolutionary War.

We are supported by our amazing associate members, who we appreciate and enjoy seeing when they come to Sydney. The Captain James Cook Chapter, NSDAR, focuses on supporting a range of local charities. Donations from our associate members have been channeled towards the FoodBank New South Wales (NSW) and Australian Capital Territory (ACT), a not-for-profit, non-denominational organisation which provides food for people in need; Wildlife Information Rescue and Services (WIRES) rescues and rehabilitates sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife; and the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal which offers assistance to communities after the devastation from the fires, helping them to rebuild lost facilities, infrastructure, and the local economy.

Locally our chapter supports Dress for Success, that donates clothing to women affected by the current fires with individually tailored packs of clothing of the correct size and work type. We also collect ring pulls, toilet rolls, and other conservation items.

We have an award-winning newsletter and we are on Facebook.
